Hey, Are You Inventing Something?

I know, it’s hard to concentrate these days with all the insane stuff going on. But, once it’s over, and it will be over, you’ll regret the time wasted. This applies to global pandemics as it does to normal living. And if I make this sound like a public announcement, it is, and it is directed just as much to myself as to you.

Big Regrets

I’ve read a few posts and tweets around this topic and found them extremely helpful, like a hand, gently nudging me out of this funk. We need to hear these reminders on a regular basis so here is mine. Imagine we’re finally allowed to go out, maybe it disappeared miraculously as someone stated early on or a vaccine put a stop to it, we’ll look back, and if we didn't tackle the things on our to-do list, learned new things, taught and helped others, took entrepreneurial risks… we’re going to regret this big time! Like not buying Amazon when it was trading at $10 kind of regret.

Concentrating will not only get you to accomplish those things lingering on your to-do list but it will also appease the mind. Netflix and Covid19 will still be there in the next hour or two. Muster whatever little energy you can, find a quiet place and get cranking!

The Feeling You Get

I live in Barcelona, Spain, one of those really badly hit places up there with Wuhan, Milan, and NYC. It is hard to concentrate while you’re smack in the middle of it. But the feeling I get once I finally finish something and the relief I feel makes it worth it and OK. And the memory lingers on to fuel my next bout of inventing.

Don’t push yourself too hard, at times, that glass of wine and sitting on the couch are needed.

So if you are one of the lucky ones that can work from home and smart ones that you take social distancing seriously, get cranking!

If you’re into Python and financial web apps, try my free classes on Udemy — lots of people have taken them and gave them good reviews.

Keep in mind that we have no idea how this story ends. We may be required to “social distance” for a long time, avoid outdoors and large gatherings… The quicker we make use of our time, the quicker we become productive and out of the funk, at least the ones in our heads… This just may be the new normal so might as well get cranking!
