Hello YouTube Friends Lets talk automation and for the sake of this example, Im going to pick the banking industry just because of the sad sad sad interaction at the House Financial Services Committee hearing with Jamie Dimon this month. But this, unfortunately, applies to all industries... Jamie showed such a lack of empathy that regardless of how you feel here - I am so glad he got a stern talk as you do with a naughty two-year-old! Seems that people at that level, say at 40 thousand feet above ground where lear jets fly, a reminder about reality here on earth once in while. Welcome to the ViralML Show, my name is Manuel Amunategui. I am the author of a few books including Monetizing Machine Learning where we port Python ML projects to the web for the world to enjoy and look at paywalls to monetize your work. Please, signup for my newsletter - the upper right corner where youll get advance access to my material - - This video will be filed under State of the Industry. Lets take a quick look at the reel, so were all on the same page. Its between representative Katie Porter and Jamie Dimon, where she asks him how the heck this bank teller working for Jamie can survive with her current wages. Jamie Dimon is none other than the CEO of JPMorgan Chase with a net worth of 1.4 billion dollars and a salary of apparently, just learned that on CNET, of 31 million dollars a year Katie Porter is a New Member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing California. She took the seat in January of this year. Cost of living in her district is outrageous so its going to be a big issue for her. Looking at their bios, they attended top schools, and both chose Harvard. You may think this line of argument is easy, as theres one Jamie making disgusting amounts of money while there are 100 of thousands of Patricia. But wait - there will be more and very shortly. The disparity between these two employees - Patricia the teller and Jamie are alluring. 35k vs 31 million, or 35,000 versus 31,000,000. Its alluring if you put that in Andy Warhol cans of soup, you get... before diving into automation, let me cover my empathy part That said the story doesnt end there by a long stretch - when I was listening to Katie describe the bank teller, my heart was breaking for another reason job that will not exist in the next 10 years! Most of it has been decimated by easy automation! You know the ATM? yeah, thats simple automation when the work is basically pushed onto the customer! Banks basically figured out the machine, eliminated at the job and pushed onto me! So if AI can do a better job at underwriting loans with more empathy than Jamie can do on his best day??? yeah, were all in trouble! So, one thing I love Amazon for is the Amazon Career Choice program they set up. I did a video on it a few weeks - link in the description. Every big company, especially in the banking industry like Jamies, need to implement programs like this - the CEOs that make 31 million dollars a year and arent implementing these kinds of programs.
